Common Questions

FAQ

Everything you need to know about working with Jara Smart Homes.

How much does a smart home cost?

It depends on the scope. A basic smart home setup starts around $2,000, while a fully integrated luxury system can range from $10,000 to $50,000+. We provide detailed, transparent quotes after understanding your needs — there are never hidden fees.

Can I upgrade my system later?

Absolutely. All our systems are designed to be scalable and future-ready. Start with the basics and add security, audio, theatre, or energy management whenever you're ready. We document everything so expansions are seamless.

Are smart home systems secure?

Security is built into every system we install. We use enterprise-grade networking with VLANs to isolate IoT devices, implement strong encryption, and provide firmware update services. Our maintenance plans include ongoing cybersecurity monitoring.

Do you support existing / older homes?

Yes. We specialize in retrofitting smart technology into existing homes across the HRM. Using a combination of wireless devices and strategic wiring, we can upgrade virtually any home — often without major renovations or drywall work.

What brands do you install?

We work with top-tier brands including Control4, Crestron, Savant, Lutron, Sonos, Ring, Nest, Ecobee, UniFi, and more. We select the best hardware for each project based on your needs, budget, and integration requirements.

How do deposits and payments work?

Every proposal includes a transparent cost breakdown. A deposit secures your install date, with the balance invoiced on completion. Invoices, deposits, and appointment records are tracked in our CRM so you always have a clear history.

How long does installation take?

A basic smart home package typically takes 1–2 days. Comprehensive systems with theatre, lighting, and security can take 1–2 weeks. New construction pre-wiring happens during the build phase. We provide a detailed timeline with every proposal.
